Is USB c and thunderbolt 3 the same thing? Im thinking of getting the new MacBook Pro and want to know

No, USB is USB and Thunderbolt is something else.

There are multiple posts saying that the new MBP will not operate a Thunderbolt display at all. The sailing is not plain.

Yes I know the spec, not everyone is having success though, so they say.



I'm not disagreeing with you or denying that there aren't going to be issues, but as the OP provided almost no information about his future plans, or what displays he was planning on using, all we can provide is the specifications freely available on Apple's web site.
