keychain and Contacts sync

I now have High Sierra on MBP Early 2011 and iOS 11 on iPhone 7 (public beta 'registration' (?) active on both devices). Ever since this upgrade on both/either of the devices the Keychain sync does not seem to be working. The MBP is the primary from which I'd expect to sync to all my other devices e.g. the iphone, & ipad.

Tried the 'check/uncheck' keychain in iCloud on both devices, First Aid on Disk Utility but the sync to iphone is not taking place. Also seem to be facing the same problem with Contacts syncing (again MBP is the primary). But findmydevice is working fine, also iCloud tabs (Safari)
