Imported cds not showing

I've importorted lots of songs via cd into my iTunes via a windows laptop. They  work fine on the laptop ano sync to my iPod ok. However, they do not appear in the music section on my iPad or Apple TV. Only those songs purchased via iTunes Store appear there. Help!
