Why does the text turn a light blue highlight?

I am typing on my iPad using Microsoft app and when I open the paper that I typed on my iPad, on my computer. The computer shows a light blue highlight behind the text that I typed on my iPad but the text that I typed on my computer has no highlight. I have tried everything.
