Looking for a potentially fraudulent purchase u...

In an email notifying me of a potentially fraudulent purchase using my Apple ID, I cannot find anyplace in the Apple World to list purchases.  I've browsed the Account page and Security page but find no link to "Purchases." How can I find out what was purchased?

Checking your purchase history is the right thing to do. An email confirmation for a transaction you did not make is a very common scam.

Excerpted from Effective defenses against malware and other threats:

  • Don't open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
    • ...
    • A variant of the same scam takes the form of an emailed receipt for an iTunes Store or App Store purchase you did not make. The email will contain a link soliciting your Apple ID to confirm the alleged purchase. Both the link and the receipt are fraudulent.

Thank you for your reply.  Regretfully, this did not help.  I see no link on the iTunes page that takes me to my account.  In fact, when I put "my account" into the search window, iTunes returned a bunch of recordings by a group called My Account.  Amusing, but not helpful.  This should not be so difficult -- how can I deal with a potentially fraudulent transaction if I cannot find it? My iTunes is v. 12.6.2.20.

macjack provided the instructions for obtaining your purchase history. In case they don't appear for you due to an anomaly with this site, here they are:

Also log onto your credit card account and check for a strange purchase there.
