With the red ! the help chat line wants the ser...

When updating my apple watch the red "!" appeared. When I contacted the web address it said I could chat or speak on the phone provided I had the serial number. The watch doesn't display anything by the red "!" on the phone I can find the serial number but not enough characters are shown..... so I can not use the chat or call service. How do I get help
