contacts not updating on cloud

Hello!

I have noticed that when I add a contact on my phone, it does not sync up with the cloud and therefore does not add it to my contacts on iMac...it never used to do this...all the settings in my iPhone, iMac are set to go onto the cloud...any help on why this is happening and what can I do to fix it would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you!
