iPad pro screen cracked!
cant believe less than 24 hours after buying my iPad pro, left it by the side of the bed and in the morning accidentally knocked my watch off the bed table (an I watch at that!) and the 2ft drop was big enough to crack the screen! Beware as I've had 3 iPads in the past that have taken much abuse and never cracked a screen, the iPad pro is very flimsy and has a weak screen!!!!!!!!
It's a glass screen. Even the lightest Apple Watch weighs 37 grams. Depending on how it hit the screen, it's quite reasonable to expect the screen would crack. Why would you abuse any expensive electronic device?

I Mean I use them a lot, travel all around the place and have had mishaps! totally understand their glass, but from a bed table night come on...
UUnder that premis I guess the watch glass should be broken too...
The watch may not have hit the iPad face first. I think if it hit the iPad digital crown first, it would be pretty lkely to crack the iPad without damaging the watch.
Take it into Apple right away and beg for forgiveness. They may replace it for free out of pity — you didn't even have it 24 hours!
Otherwise, AppleCare plus will cover two accidental damages over two years – and may be bought up to 30 days after you purchased your device. So go pay $99 and then take the device into your local Genius Bar.
I bought it for my husband for xmas on 21st Dec, and gave it to him Xmas day, but boxing day it has a crack from camera to left side. We did NOT drop it and placed it straight into a protective case, and we can only figure that the case itself (made of plastic) has exerted enough pressure on it to cause the screen to crack in 1 place then another….. Apple wanted me to pay 80% of the cost to replace it, this is all within a 5-day period. I def think there are some serious quality issue. Is one meant to "wrap the device up in cotton wool"?
the smaller the screen the more abuse it can take really the size makes the wavelength bending pressure harder to accomplish same with scratches really
If, by some miracle of sympathy, Apple Store gives you a replacement iPad Pro, get the Apple Case and smart cover ( unless Apple has the smart keyboard cover, if not, get the smart cover for now) and leave the cover closed when not using your iPad Pro.
Don't put your Apple Watch anywhere near your iPad Pro, from now on.
Interesting your December experience, because mine was very much like yours. I couldn't get my cover for the iPad pro until last week. By then I travelled already halfway around the globe and all went fine.
Last week tuesday I finally got the pen and iPad cover and was a happy man.
Worked the afternoon with an iPad perfectly suited to my needs.
When I came back in the evening I still watched a bit of movies and then placed the iPad on the desk. As far as I know I closed the cover.
Next morning I saw a crack starting at the upper right corner, going all the way to the left.
No damage on the metal, but yes it looked as if a tiny thing must have hit it, or TENSION IN THE glass together with the aluminum cause it.
I am not aware that anything could have caused it. It did not fall or had any pressure from my side and I didn't see anything during the whole afternoon or evening.
When I brought it to apple support they claimed that it was damaged by external forces.
1. Does anyone have the same experience?
2. Is there a potential info about tensions in the glass of the iPad pro leading to spontaneous breakage?
Whoever has heard about it, please let me know. I was considering using some more iPad pro's for my office, but it might be a bit too expensive if the glass has known issues and has to be replaced all the time.
Do you live by yourself? If not, perhaps someone else in your household damaged it and hasn't told you.
I have used many IPads since version 1 without any problems. Received a pro about a month ago and was extra careful. Put on a UAG case and apple cover immediately. Discovered a 7 inch crack yesterday. I have not dropped the unit nor have I dropped anything on it. Still trying to figure out how I could have damaged it. Maybe the pro is not a "mobile" device.
You may mot have damaged it, but what about family members, friends, co-workers or pets? I take my Pro all over the place and no damage.
The same thing has happened to my husbands IPad pro! Totally fine when he used it in the morning, went to use it a few hours later and a big crack on the screen. Despite the fact it never even moved! It's only a week old! Of course it's a $199. Insurance claim. This is obviously an issue with the IPad Pros.
I have had my iPad Pro for four months. No screen cracks, yet.
What kind of case was the IPad Pro in?
There have been reported instances of some cases being too tight around the pro and causing the iPad Pro to flex just enough to cause stress cracks in the glass.
