Apple Watch 1st Gen/Series 0 Share My Location ...

I own a first generation/Series 0 Apple Watch Stainless Steel model and I have noticed a possible bug with WatchOS 4. I have the "Share My Location" feature turned off on the phone (iPhone 6S+ running iOS 11) that it is paired to. This feature has always been turned off on both devices but after the WatchOS 4 update, my Apple Watch refuses to turn off that function when I select it in the settings menu on the watch itself. Whenever I try to turn it off, I get a message from the watch saying "Share My Location is Unavailable. Unable to connect to server. Please try again later". I have tried to do a reset on the watch and I did a reset on the phone it is paired to as well and there was no change. The issue is that is it consistently showing the location based services icon on my phone as well as in the watch menu and it is draining the battery of my phone at a rapid pace. I do not use this feature on any of my devices, I do not plan on using it in the future and I just want to turn it off.

My question is, how can I turn this off? Also, has anyone else experienced this with their Apple Watch after updating to Watch OS4?
