I have Wi

My mid 20ll iMac is running OS Sierra 10.12.6.

My Wi-Fi network consists of a 3-month-old Time Capsule and a 3.5-year-old AirPort Express.

My Airport Express has been working fine for 3 months as a network extender, but despite its green light showing it is not now functioning; my iPad does not get a decent Wi-Fi signal from it.

My Time Capsule, which has a green light also, is supplying good Wi-Fi to my iMac, iPhone 7 and new iPad.

In AirPort Utility, both are grayed out and have a yellow triangle by them.

I have shut down my computer, unplugged and replugged the Express, then rebooted the iMac. Nothing changed.

I have shut down the computer, unplugged the Express and left it unplugged. Upon iMac reboot the Time Capsule still shows as Device Not Found (along with the unplugged Express), yet my Wi-Fi network is functioning.

1) I'm wondering why AirPort Utility is not seeing Time Capsule. It did see it for a short time while showing a plugged-in Express (with a green light) as a Device Not Found, but later discontinued recognizing Time Capsule (with a green light) while Express was still plugged in. Now, with Express unplugged, Time Capsule (though functioning and having a green light) is still showing as a Device Not Found.

2) I'm wondering if it is time to replace my AirPort Express, or if I should perform resets on one or both appliances.

3) Any other suggestions to regain Express function and get AirPort Utility to see both AirPorts again?

First things first.  Power off the AirPort Express for now and leave it off, and concentrate on getting the Time Capsule working correctly and appearing consistently in AirPort Utility.  In other words, the AirPort Express is not going to work correctly until the Time Capsule is appearing correctly in AirPort Utility.

Power off your entire network....all devices....modem, Time Capsule, computers, iPhones/iPads, etc.....in any order that you want

Wait a minute

Power up the modem and let it run for 2-3 minutes by itself

Power up the Time Capsule  and let it run for a minute or two

Power up your Mac and let it run for a minute or two

Open up AirPort Utility and check to see if the Time Caspule is appearing correctly in AirPort Utility and report back if the Time Capsule is still missing.

If the Time Capsule appears correctly in AirPort Utility, you can continue to power up other devices one at a time about a minute apart.

Continue to leave the AirPort Express powered off for now and report back.
