How do I transfer videos I took from the ipad t...
Recently I've been on a trip and I took some videos and photos with my iPad 2. All I want to do is copy them to a folder in finder without having to go through iPhoto. You'd think something so basic would be simple but I can't figure it out. On a PC, when you connect the iPad with the USB cable, Windows pops up a dialogue box and one of the options is to copy the files over (only photos and videos you took with the ipad for obvious reasons). On a Mac it's a whole different story. iPhoto opens up, you can import all the photos and videos and view/play them through iPhoto but all I wanna do is copy them into a folder in finder. The iPhoto library is a gigantic mess. You can't find any files in there. So either I'm missing something very basic or this whole thing is needlessly complicated on a Mac.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
With a Mac, you can use iPhoto or the Image Capture application for importing photos/videos from a digital camera.
You also have an option for which application launches automatically when any digital camera is connected or you can select no application. This is done via iPhoto preferences or the same can be selected via Image Capture preferences.

Excellent. This is exactly what I wanted. Well done sir. It's much appreciated.
I know this post is old, but the problem for me is new. I've just started videoing my 84-year-old husband's stories. The video was perfect on my iPad, but it did not transfer automatically to iCloud on my Mac. I tried to send it via AirDrop, but it refused to complete "preparing." I tried it several times with the same result. I would LIKE to put all these videos within an app (not iMovie) that I can have available on my external Hard Drive (to edit), as I am running out of space on my iPad, and this is a long-term project! Can you help?
