Macbook Pro Hard drive not showing up

Hi,

First of all I have a Macbook Pro from 2011 and it has Os X El Captain version 10.11.16. I have two Seagate Expansion drives and one of them has stopped showing up on my laptop.

The one that has stopped showing up is the newer hard drive of the two bought about 2 years ago. I have tried looking in disk utility but the hard drive does not show up at all. I have also tried using a different USB port, and tried using a different USB cable to connect it to the computer but nothing has worked. It does not appear to be a problem with the hard drive's cable as I tried its cable on my other hard drive and that hard drive connected to my laptop with no problems.

The hard drive is working; it's blue light turns on and I can hear it start when I plug it into the computer.

I would appreciate any help as I have photos and files I need on the hard drive and  I have not been able to find a solution thus far on the internet. The only answers I have found talk about disk utility but as my hard drive does not show up on disk utility that is not helpful to me.
