Why does my Watch 2 flip out every afternoon?

My Watch 2 (OS 4.0) is exhibiting weird behaviour almost every day at the same time.  Around 4pm Pacific, right about when I'm coming home from work, until usually 8pm or so at night, my Watch does all kinds of weird stuff.

  • Appears to "wireframe" any watch face with hands (ie. not digital faces, but the chronometers and similar).  The face will suddenly display as a white circle with plain hands for a moment, then draw in the proper face
  • Randomly jumps to the app screen
  • Randomly taps my wrist with no apparent alert or notification
  • Randomly turns on Siri (even though I explicitly turned Hey Siri off)

The wrist tapping and turning on Siri is particularly irritating - it can happen several times a minute.  I am VERY confident I'm not pressing the Digital Crown during this behaviour.  I've held completely still and watched it happen.

Finally, after weeks of successful and uneventful use, suddenly the Watch won't communicate with my iPhone using the Runkeeper app.  I used to be able to start a workout and have everything run flawlessly, worked great for months.  Suddenly when I hit Go, it can take as long as 7 minutes before the app on the iPhone "catches up" and starts tracking my location.  This behaviour started about two months ago.  This is the only app-specific problem I've found on the Watch.

I have reset and re-paired the Watch with my iPhone 7 (iOS 11.0.2) twice, and no help.  I have done a Force Restart on the Watch this afternoon, but I don't expect to know whether it's had any effect for an hour or two.

4-8 is my busiest time of day - I'm home from work, frequently cooking, and playing with my son.  I thought perhaps I was just inadvertently hitting the Crown while moving around, but again, I'm certain this is not the case.

If anyone has an input, I'm all ears.

Thanks!
