Youtube links will not open in youtube app

I Had chrome browser installed and uninstalled it., now no links will open in youtube app. Everytime i click any youtube links it says open in browser? I cant cause i uninstalled the chrome app. I tried turning the open with chrome button off, i tried uninstalling and reinstalling youtube, i reset all my settings. Nothing will work.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I Have a similar issue, but I never installed chrome, nor did I ever change any default action on the part of the YouTube app or browser.  This just started happening about 2 or 3 weeks ago, most likely after an update but I cannot be sure precisely when.  All I know is that when viewing a video from within the YouTube app on my iPad Air, if there is a link to another video, for example 'https://YouTub.be/RaND0mStr1NG' clicking the link causes a pop-up dialog asking, "open in browser?" Yes or cancel.  Clicking cancel just closes the pop up with no further effect.  So does clicking yes.  The dialog closes and nothing happens.  However, if you go to any one of those videos from safari and do the same, this time the dialog is "open in YouTube app or cancel". Choosing open in app launches the application and plays the video. I have found no solution on the YouTube forums which seem mostly geard to content creators and their unfair takedown problems (sob) but zero about the iOS app and how to solve this problem. I have taken to screen grans that I can then use to read and manually type the link in so I can watch linked videos.  What a pain!  Somebody has to have a solution but searching for this problem yields little tomnothing aside from how to make YouTube work in a browser.  I don't want it to work in a browser, it already does.  I want it to work in the app like it did as recently as a month ago.

In order to get the youtube app to open links do the following, open Safari and search for something in google and tap the videos tab.

When you see the list of videos press one of them and keep pressing untill you get a menu, then choose "open in youtube".

After this both Safari and Chrome will launch the youtube app automatically instead of just opening the mobile site.
