I just got a UHD TV and I am trying to get 4K resolution via Thunderbolt to HDMI from my iMac 5K (mid 2015) but can only get mirrored 1080p) The strangest thing is that a couple of minutes ago I was using it as a separate display with the UHD TV in 1080p and the iMac display independently at 5K. I don't really know where the difference happened. Is it not possible to drive each display in their native format? Am I stuck in 1080p land if I use the UHD TV? or is there a different way to interconnect, maybe from the iMac USB2 to HDMI2? The UHD does support HDMI 2.

Does anything in this link help?
