Water damage iPad

My water bottle leaked inside my backpack and got my iPad wet. The iPad didn't work, so I put it in rice (per recommendations); this afternoon I left it out in the sun and noticed that the remaining condensation evaporated from the screen.

At that point, I turned on my iPad. It worked; I could surf, access my books, etc. However, it worked only in bright, direct sunlight, i.e. the only way I can view my screen is if I held it directly in the hot sun. If I moved it into the shade, I can't see it.

What's wrong? Does anyone know how to get this fixed? Did some light display go out in the iPad?

Something like that.

Apple will replace the iPad for $249.

Try using the bag/(new) rice for a longer period.

Your backlight is dead,.

You will have to get a new one.

How do I do that? Do I take it to an iPad repair shop? For all intents and purposes, the iPad is working, all the features/ applications worked. It's just that I couldn't see the screen in a normal room, can only see the screen if I shine a flashlight or view it in direct sunlight. I went to Settings to turn off Auto-Brightness/ turn brighness up all the way... didn't work either. My friend thinks the LCD is screen is shot.

You need to take it to Apple. Other places void your warranty.

You can get a backlight repair on the motherboard from MyiBroke.com - Not sure what iPad you have but here is the link https://www.myibroke.com/ipad-dim-backlight-repair-82a

You should avoid doing any business on a website that has a spelling error.  The "myibroke.com" website has more than a dozen spelling errors on the first page.  Be aware!

Good eye. I will email them now and give them a heads up. Not sure if its grounds to not do business with them though, I heavily reasearched them before sending my iPhone in the first time and was unable to find any negative reviews. I have used them on multiple occasions and they were nothing but professional and saved my butt!

UPDATE: I emailed MyiBroke not even an hour ago and have already received a response

Chris, we are all human and capable of making mistakes. I would much rather help resolve a problem vs attempting to drive business away from a company who is offering a much needed service. For me to get an email response with in an hour of contacting a company on the east coast who is not likely open at 2am is more than impressive in my book. When is the last time you emailed a business in the middle of the night and they responded that fast?
