manage back up

Can i manage back up so it used less GB.  I have already cleaned up photo and put them on a jump drive but my back up is using half my storage.  It seems when i look for this in settings am not in the correct stop to delete stuff? 

Can anyone provide any assistance.  I am not an expert by all means. 

You can manage what you back up at Settings ➔ Apple ID(Top) ➔ iCloud ➔ Storage ➔ iCloud ➔ Manage Storage ➔ Backups ➔ This Device, however, I suggest you subscribe to more space rather than not include data in backup, it will only end in tears otherwise.
