Apple watch screen turns off in the middle of d...
Not all the time but enough to be annoying my watch screen goes to sleep while I'm in the middle of a dication. When I wake it back up the whole message is gone and I have to start over. Help!
Hi
The screen should not sleep whilst a message is still being dictated (regardless of the Wake Screen settings).
If you have not yet done so, it may help to update your iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest software:
- Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
- Update the software on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
Otherwise, it may help to restart both your iPhone and your watch. Turn both devices off together, then restart your iPhone first:
- To turn your watch off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
- To turn it on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
Try these steps:
- Open the apple watch app on your iPhone.
- Tap the my watch tab.
- Scroll down and tap general.
- Tap auto lock.
- From there, you can change the display so that it doesn’t lock automatically.
Some other steps that might be helpful:
- Unlock your apple watch.
- Tap settings>general>auto lock.
- When you are on the auto lock screen, change the display to how many minutes you want.
- You can also change the display to “never” so that your watch doesn’t lock itself automatically.
Good luck!

There are no auto lock settings for Apple Watch.
Ongoing dictation should also continue uninterrupted regardless of the Wake Screen settings.
This is bug.
The screen can not turn off when I am dictating a message. Please fix it.

Hi. It seems I have the same issue with my watch. It's already updated with the latest iOS and also tried to power off/on both devices as advised above, yet no luck. Can you please advise? Thanks
There is no such setting.

I Have the same issue. Very seldom this doesn't happen, it is quite annoying and renders the imessage reply function useless. i have discovered that the same happens if I am listening to a voice note in iMessage, it just turns off in the middle of it. I am not sure if it is a problem from watchOS 2.2.1 or a hardware issue. I contacted Apple support and told me the believe it is a hardware problem.
I Have the same problem. Although it is not "a real fix" and will cause battery life to suffer, there is a setting that will make it less annoying. you can change the "wake" setting from 15 secs to 70 secs, which will allow you to dictate for 70 instead of 15 secs.
1. Open the watch app on your phone
3. Go to General
4. Go to Wake Settings
5. make sure "Wake for 70 seconds" is checked
This will keep the watch face powered for 70 seconds when you raise your wrist or tap on your watch. Since the watch face will be on longer every time you use your watch or raise your wrist, it will eat up battery power faster. since most dictation are less than 70 seconds, it should help alleviate the annoyance. In the end, Apple needs to fix this problem. Not sure if it is a software or hardware glitch. Updating OS on both had not worked for me.

I also have this problem, have settings set to wake screen for 70secs but iwatch 3 still goes into sleep mode with a slight twist of the wrist. Even after 5 sec’s if I move my arm while replying, reading messages it goes to sleep. Not a problem when reading but when I am replying and have half a message and adjust my arm to be comfortable the screen goes to sleep and I lose the message.. anyone finds a fix to this please let me in on it!
