itunes says i need to reset my iphone to factor...

I tried adding some music to my iPhone 7 Plus and it looked as if everything synced ok. (I had added two movies the day before and everything went fine.)  When I unplugged the phone nothing was transferred. When I plugged back in to iTunes, I was informed that I needed to reset my phone to factory settings. Please I don’t want to go theough the hassle of setting everything up again. My iPhone is running iOS 11 and iTunes is 12.7. Is there a simple solution.
