Does anybody make a Lightning Cable extension? Literally female Lightning on one end and male Lightning on other end?

Apple does not show an extension of that type on their website. How long a cable do you need. Apple makes a 2 meter USB to lightning cable that should reach most anywhere.

I have never seen lightning extension cables, only longer versions with USB on one side (for example) and lightning male on the other.  You can try the site www.monoprice.com for long cables that might meet your need.  Good quality at good prices.

The replies to DadsEchelon's query don't answer the question. What I also need is a lightning male to female extender. A standard USB to Ligjtning malecan't do the job.

I want one to allow me to use an external lightning microphone, Sure or Røde, on my iPad mini 4 in the field without having to take off its Survivor protective casing. All mics currently on the market have to fit straight onto the iOS device. I currently use a Tascam iM2 mic with a 30-pin plug, for which an Apple cable is available, but the Tascam app will die when iOS 11 comes along, and more importantly, I want 24 bit 48 kHz audio rather my current 16/44.1.

Perhaps Lightning females that aren't on devices won't due to the reason of the Lightning's construction, or perhaps Apple doesn't permit the sale of Lightning females to third party manufacturers?

Just discovered that CableJice does the very thing with a 2 foot cable for $16.95. Saw it on Amazon.

You have some interesting speculations, but the primary reason an extension cable is problematic is the fact that the Lightning cable is an "active" device, not just a bunch of wires. There are 4 microcircuit ICs in the Lightning connector. They get their power from the phone, and they are very low power devices, so they must be physically close to the phone so signal is not lost as it would be in a long cable. Thanks for that. That's what I meant by "by reason of Lightning's construction". Good idea to check certification. CableJive stuff is usually good. It would, however, be even better if Apple made the product!

Just a wee addition to my comments. More and more iOS device users are going to need some kind of Lightning extension if the number of devices losing the jack socket increases.

Most of the people I see around with iPhone 7s have some kind of protective case, so how would they connect a microphone without a stub or cable?

That might also be something to discuss with the microphone manufacturers. They could just as easily make it more convenient for their devices to be plugged into phones with cases on them.

Some reviews might get their attention, however. A negative review (I suggest 2 stars) with a civil comment is the best approach. Rants for the most part are counterproductive.

Yes, but they generally have support links or email links to contact them. You are welcome to deal with it as you wish, just making some suggestions.

@hughmnyk - Did you have any luck with the CableJive cable for your microphones ?I know the issue sometimes is that extension cables form third parties may only allow charging.  I am needing similar cable for a microphone also so very interested to hear how you got on.
