How do you set up AC adapter for MacBook Air?

What do you do after changing the duck head? Was the adapter cord included as one of the accessories when the laptop is purchased because I don’t remember having it at all?

The laptop was purchased in 2014 in HongKong and I am currently in UK. It would not charge (no light at all when plugged in and the battery icon disappeared off the taskbar on the desktop). I’ve tried to go to settings and change it back because I thought it was a settings 

failure, but after clicking the box that 

said ‘show battery percentage’, a charging icon flashes for a second and disappears. I’ve tried resetting by holding down Command + Option + R + P but it didn’t fix anything.  

Also the screen freezes from time to time saying there was no keyboard detected?

I’m an IB student and I have a lot of my work saved on my laptop so I really need my laptop fixed..
