USB port not recognizing WD external disk

USB port is not recognizing my WD external disk, even though when I look in "hardware" it shows...I cannot access the documents in the WD because it does not show on my finder.  

Hi,

Try another cable.

Try a different port.

Try the HD on another Mac to see if it works there.

See if there's a software update on WD's website.
