How to remove a trusted device from two

How can I remove a trusted device from two-step verification without removing device from account.

Someone has my device and I won't disable activation lock on it.

I've removed Apple Pay but I would also like to remove it from Two-Step verification so that they don't receive any pins.

If I remove the device from my account then I loose the activation lock.

If it really is 2 step verification, your pin is only sent to the device you choose. If it's 2 factor authentication then the pin won't show on a locked screen.
