A1465 SSD enclosure not detected when plugged in!

I spilled coffee on an old laptop a couple weeks ago, tried to fix it but couldn't, and recovered the ssd. i bought an enclosure for it online, and tried to plug the enclosure in with the ssd inside it but my new macbook wont acknowledge it--not even the disk utility application. I made sure the SATA connector is plugged in correctly, but it wont show up. The light on the enclosure goes on and it starts making a very quiet skipping/clicking sounds when i plug it in. The internet also slows and stops. Is the ssd shot or is the enclosure shot?
