Anyone else having wifi disconnect issues with ...

Using IOS 11 on an iPad Air 2. Since updating to IOS 11, I have had numerous occasions where I get disconnected from wifi and can’t reconnect for several minutes. When it happens, the wifi icon disappears, but settings shows that i am connected to my wifi. I’ve tried 1. forgetting my network and signing in again, 2. resetting all network connections and signing in again, and 3. rebooting my device and signing in again. Same results. Settings says I’m connected, but there’s no wifi icon and no connection. I’ve checked my wifi on other devices and they all work. And, I never experienced this prior to updating to IOS 11. Something else I noticed is when I am truely connected and I turn wifi off and on again in control center, the wifi will not come back on for several minutes.

Hello Osugrad85,

It sounds like you're randomly being disconnected from your Wi-Fi router even though Settings > Wi-Fi shows you're still successfully connected on your iPad. I know how disruptive it can be to expereince issues with Wi-Fi connectivity, so I'm happy to help you with a solution.

Taking into account all of the awesome troubleshooting steps you've already tried on your own, the next best step would be to back up your iPad and then update it to iOS 11.0.1. View steps on how to back up and update using these links:

Update the iOS on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Check to see if this issue has been resolved after you're all updated. If it hasn’t, I recommend ruling out issues related to your router next. You can do this by power cycling your Wi-Fi router and/or modem and then checking to see if the issue persists. After that, try updating your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware version available for it just in case it needs to be updated in order to work well with the new iOS.

If you're using an AirPort base station, you can view the steps on how to update in Update the software on your AirPort base station. If you aren't using an AirPort base station, you'll want to reach out to either your internet service provider or the manufacturer of your router.

If you continue to experience the same thing, please reply back answering the following questions:

  1. Have you tested your Wi-Fi connection with more than one Wi-Fi router since updating your iPad to iOS 11? If so, did you experience the same disconnect issue with each one?
  2. Do other devices near you have Wi-Fi connection issues during times when your iPad is disconnected?
  3. Do you have any case or accessory plugged into your iPad during times when it disconnects? If so, try removing the case and accessories, and then test to see if the issue persists.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!
