importing movie files after upgrade to Sierra

Downloading Movies from a camera were no problem until I upgraded to Sierra. Now it stalls after encountering a movie.  I thought I had solved the problem by copying files direct to the desktop from my camera chip. Importing into photos was lightning fast, but the movies are only single frames from the shot.

I recently upgraded my System memory to 12GB.
