Touch ID Reset on Late 2016 15" Touch Bar Macbo...

I need to reset the Touch ID on my new Late 2016 15" Touch Bar Macbook Pro

Originally, I setup my new Macbook Pro with a Touch ID and just played around for a bit.

Then tonight, I used Migration assistant to move my old Late 2011 15" Macbook Pro data to the new Mac, and I said to replace the initial setup account with the account from my old Macbook Pro.

Now when I try to setup Touch ID for my account I get

But I do not have any other account (anymore) that I can access to remove old Touch ID entries.

Does anyone have a clue about how I could reset ALL the Touch IDs and start from scratch?

I'm guessing I need to somehow tell the Secure Enclave to remove the existing entries, and I'm hoping there is some command line utility, Magic multi-key holding boot sequence, or something that will allow me to move forward.

I figured out a work-around, but would still like to know if there is a way to reset all Touch ID entries on the Late 2016 15" Macbook Pro with Touch Bar and Touch ID.

My workaround was that I had another account, that was migrated.

When I logged into that account, it did an automatic setup for iCloud and Touch ID.

So I did the Touch ID setup and it allowed me and it accepted it.

I then went to this accounts System Preferences -> Touch ID, and deleted the finger print.

Logged out, and logged into my regular account.

Now it would System Preferences -> Touch ID would allow me to enter a new Finger Print.  Yea!

I am not going to mark this solved, as I'm hoping there is a better solution, and as long as it is not marked solved, someone may actually look at it (and there are At-A-Boy (or Girl) points in it for some lucky contributer )

If you do a SMC Reset, it will also reset the fingerprints, too. I hope this helps!

I gave that a try (twice) using these instructions

<Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support>

But after the reboot, the existing finger print still worked.  I was able to use the existing finger print to authorize privileges.

Shift-Control-Option-power, then just power

is what the instructions say.

But of course there is no official Power button, just the finger print button, which does appear to work to turn the Mac on after a shutdown.

Ok I just checked the documentation, and the Touch ID button is ALSO the Power button.  So I followed the SMC Reset instructions, but it does not appear to remove the existing Finger Prints.

Yikes. It worked for me twice when I had issues with TouchID & fingerprints.

It seems the the link between resetting SMC and fingerprints may be FileVault - I have it enabled, and resetting the SMC for another issue deleted my fingerprints. It's a weird workaround, but having FileVault on isn't a bad thing, anyway.

Also, for resetting SMC - there's no feedback that it works, except that the computer shouldn't turn on once you release shift-ctrl-alt-power after 10 seconds. Something that should be better publisized, I think.

I had this problem this morning. It turns out that the Cisco AnyConnect VPN client also causes it. When I am connected to VPN, I cannot add fingerprints and it cannot find existing fingerprints. When I quit AnyConnect, I was able to add a fingerprint as normal. AnyConnect also causes issues with AirPrint and AirPlay FYI

I have the same problem, I cannot add fingerprints and cannot see any existing fingerprints, logging in via touch id is not possible. I am not using Cisco AnyConnect.
