my traffic lights have disappeared on full screen

Don't know what I have done, but when I put the curser at the top left (on full screen) the traffic lights don't appear.  I have looked at other other sites which suggest window - screen mode - normal.  But I click window  but there is no "screen Mode" . am I missing something???
