Failure to use USB Ethernet adapter

Hello All,

I am running a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012) with OS X Yosemite (10.10.5). I have tried in vain, to connect to the internet with an RD9700 USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter.

I have attempted to follow instructions offered in this forum such as this one (see link below) but whenever I write the "csrutil disable" or  "sudo command(s)" I get " sudo command not found" message. What should I do?

I thank you in advance

Re: Re: usb ethernet adapter with chipset RD9700

I do not know how to make your adapter work.  But for the command not found, you can try using the full path to the commands

/usr/bin/csrutil disable

/usr/bin/sudo /sbin/kextload /System/Library/Extensions/USBCDEthernet.kext

If they work, and you get your adapter to work, all the better.

I'm guessing the sudo command did not find kextload, because it is in a location that is not normally part of your PATH environment variable.  This is actually normal.

IF these tricks do not work, consider getting a different ethernet adapter.  I have a USB to Ethernet adapter (got it from Apple), and it works fine, no at least 3 different Macs.
