why does itunes keep downloading same movie

I bought a movie (HD if it matters) from iTunes and downloaded it several weeks ago and have watched it on my MacBook as well as an iPad. But iTunes keeps wanting to download it every time it starts up - and I have to manually pause the download. And the next time I start iTunes the same thing happens all over again. The movie is over 3GB and I don't want to have to keep downloading every time. This is really getting tiring.

Why does iTunes keep doing this every time? How do I tell iTunes to not bother?

This is iTunes 11.0.1 on OS X 10.8.2

Well I think I figured it out - I should have removed them from the download queue entirely - merely pausing the download leaves them in the queue and when I exit iTunes, guess it merely saves the fact that they didn't finish downloading and next time iTunes starts up it notes the previously uncompleted downloads and happily starts them up again.

Now why the ever got in the download queue again after they were downloaded the first time, is where the problem really happened I guess. No telling how that might have happened, but probably was an error on my part.

Hope this helps some else in the same never-ending download cycle.

We should not blame ourselves for failing to get rid of a movie being queued repeatedly for downloading. This gives Apple an excuse for failing to help customers get rid of this movie in the download queue. We are not normally experts in the design of Apple software and hardware. We need to be instructed on how to get the movie out of the queue for download step by step.
