downloads deleted

recently my macbook pro has been deleting EVERYTHING from my downloaded folder every time i shut down and turn back on my macbook. it has also randomly added a guest server to my laptop without me doing so. The guest server will not load up when i try to open it and when i try to delete it in my settings it wont let me click it. my main concern is mostly the deleted downloads because i had books and assignments for college that i now have to get back but i know will get deleted if the problem isnt solved as it keeps doing this after shutting down.
