MBP early 2011, Seirra, Unexpected restart and ...

My early 2011 MBP is shutting down and restarting intermittently.  When I close the top the screen shuts down but the battery will wear down to 0%.  Machine will run hot and fan does kick on.  I have also had the 3 chime warning indicating a memory issue.  I have reinserted the memory and the machine says it reads it.  I did the diagnostics and it came back with a battery warning(4xxx/4/40000005:  "Battery") . The battery is pretty new only 16 cycles on it so far and 3 of those int the last 3 days. Anyone ever experience this before and what is it?  Any help would be great.  I have done 2 SMC resets today also.  I'm not sure they worked as the battery power preferences did not default out.  I did get the power adapter light change to indicate it did.
