Not receiving calendar invites

I am not receiving calendar invites from anyone. My invites are received when i send them to others. My default calendar is icloud on both ipad and iphone (software up to date and the calendar syncs on both devices ok). I have deleted icloud accounts on both and reinstalled them, several times now and i still receive no invites from my partner. The default contact email is Yahoo and the secondary account is icloud and invites to both do not show up. I have logged into icloud and toggles the receive in app notifications and email notifications on the advanced setting tab. What have i missed? Do I need to make my icloud details the default? Please help! thanks in advance.
