Switching iTunes library to a Network Attached ...

Hello

I have found numerous sites explaining how to switch the iTunes backup location to an external drive, by creating a new symbolic link.

https://osxdaily.com/2016/03/04/backup-iphone-to-external-hard-drive-mac/

I have recently bought an NAS device (Drobo 5N2, in case it matters), and I would like for all of my family  to use it as backup for our phones (and for other stuff as well).

Can anyone help me with the modifications needed to the commands in the article above to use the NAS instead of an external HD?

Thanks

Drobo 5N2 as the NAS

My personal experience has been that while you can use a symbolic link to relocate the device backups, iTunes will break any that are set up for library content as and when it attempts to write out any data to the media folder. See Make a split library portable for background. My recommendation would be that the you place the primary copy of your library on an external drive in the portable layout, which you can then clone to your NAS for backup and/or other use cases.
