Safari extensions

I clicked the Safari Extension and was directed to a Gallery site.

Below, are some suggested extensions. I have these questions:

  1. Are these made by Apple?
  2. Are these recommended?
  3. Are these Safe?

AdBlock

Safari AdBlock

AdBlock banishes all ads on all web pages. Once you install AdBlock, you’ll immediately see the results. Visit your favorite websites and watch as ads disappear.

Translate

Side Tree Software

Translate adds a toolbar item that translates the current web page using Google Translate. You can set the target language and translate in place or view the translation in a new browser tab or window.

Facebook Cleaner

SonsterMedia

Facebook Cleaner hides visual distractions — like sponsored ads, pokes, and the Get Connected section — from the Facebook website.

WOT

WOT Services Oy

Know which websites you can trust with the Web of Trust (WOT) extension. Powered by a global community, WOT uses ratings based on the experiences of millions of users. Get reputation ratings for search results and keep your personal information safe.

Are these made by Apple?

No.

Are these recommended?

No.

Are these Safe?

Maybe. Just may be.

Though the AdblocK is tempting

OS X 10.7/10.8

You can try it.

If an extension creates problems, you can always turn it off.

Safari > Preferences > Extensions

I would assume if Apple places such extensions on their website that they would be safe.

They aren't made by Apple. If they appear on Apple's Extensions Web site they are received the same basic vetting as software on the App Store. Many are quite useful. They can be turned off and deleted.
