Apple Watch message notification

My husband recently upgraded his iPhone to IOS 11. Ever since this upgrade, I notice that whenever he texts me, my Apple Watch will ring even though my ringer on Watch is OFF. 

None of the other contacts ring. Why is that? Please help me fix it so that I can mute how texts too.
