Stuck in “starting up” widow after ...

After Migration was completed on IMac 2017 5k Fusion the computer is now stuck in the “starting up” window. I tried command+q and force quit none of that worked. I don’t want to lose my data, and have to start over again. Anyone have a fix for this.

Please reset the PRAM per the directions in iMac SMC and PRAM reset. Note on the new 2017 iMacs they do not have a startup tone so hold down the keys for about 40 seconds before releasing.

You did not state how you did the migration so please be much more specific. We need to know if you are migrating from another Mac and EXACTLY how you did the migration. If you are migrating from a PC then we also need to know EXACTLY how you did that too. The devil is in the details!!

I erased the hard drive and reinstalled macOS. At that time I plugged in my 2011 MacBook Pro (with an SSD that has over 400gb of data stored) into my iMac. The migration automatically started. When I woke up this morning it was stuck in the “Starting Up” window. I tried Command + Q first, nothing happened. Then Command + Option + Esc (all at the same time), nothing happened.

I am not tech savvy so I don’t understand what you mean by PRAM or SMC.

Click the link I proved in my first post, you will find instructions on how to do the PRAM and SMC resets. Please do the PRAM reset and see if it works.

Also, you are not being specific, when you said you plugged in your "I plugged in my 2011 MacBook Pro (with an SSD that has over 400gb of data stored) into my iMac" that doesn't provide enough detail. HOW did you plug it in, what kind of cable. How did you migrate, did you do a simple copy and paste or did you use Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant to migrate. DETAILS please!!!!!!!!

Didn’t work.  I’m so discouraged. I have only had problems since I got this computer 2 weeks ago.
