not enough space when I migrate my system from ...

Hi,

My old MacBook Pro Retina, which has 128G storage, is almost dead. I have a newer MacBook Air and a regular backup Time Machine external HD. I try to migrate the system from the external HDD to the MacBook Air via Migration Assistant but it shows there is no enough space to migrate the whole system. What I can do is only remove the "Applications"  (~46G) that let my most software stop work. Both SSD are 128G and I remove most my documents. There is still 30-40Gb free in my old laptop. I don't know how this happen and how to resolve it. Any comments?

I am thinking to remove some software, that I don't use anymore, from my applications. But it is hard since my old laptop runs very very slow since the "Kernal_task" occupies most of my CPU since the dead of my temperature sensor (this is why my old laptop die). So I almost can't do anything on my old laptop, including delete some software in the "Applications."

Anyway to remove software in my "Applications" folder directly from Time Machine folders or any other comments?

Hi,

Use Migration Assistant and choose not to migrate Applications: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204350
