Iphone 5s problem

My Iphone 5s has crashed whilst installing the latest update.

I have tried updating using Itunes - but the phone is dropping in and out of connectivity with it.

It recognises the phone and the issue but kicks it out before it can be updated.

When connected to iTunes it keeps showing the usb lead image.

This happened before and a helpful technical adviser fixed this by helping me amend Pc security settings to keep phone connected.

No call available until tomorrow when I am in work.

Any help would be appreciated - hard reset not an option - for some reason latest download of icloud/iTunes  doesn't have the photos I backed up on it.
