Apple Watch Series 3 Answering Phone Calls?

Greetings! I am having some issues with answering phone calls on my Apple Watch Series 3. Here’s the scenario: my iPhone 7 is inside the house and I am outside doing yardwork. My watch is still connected to my iPhone (not a very big yard!). So an incoming call and I try to answer on my watch but it hands off or something cuz it won’t answer or answers then disconnects. I also have a strong wireless network at my house so the watch even if its not connected to my iPhone is connected to WiFi not cellular! I have tested the watch by leaving my house walking down the street and everything is fine; incoming & outgoing calls are great! I just feel like I should be able to answer a phone call on my watch if I’m outside and the iPhone is inside, even if they are connected. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, comments?? Thanks!
