iPhone playlist

My father wants to keep a playlist he made on his iPhone 6s so I tried to back it up to my computer through iTunes and while some playlist appeared under my device tab not all of them appeared and some that did appear don't even reflect all the songs that are on said playlist and of course the one he wants doesn't even come up what do I do?
