Apple Watch 3 Celluar question

My question relates to the Apple Watch 3 cellular. If I purchase this version do I have to activate the celluar aspect, or would the watch function just like the regular Apple Watch 3 until I activate the cellular? I don't know that I'll always want or need cellular on, so I'm wondering if I have the option to turn it off while I'm using my watch and potentially only have cellular service through ATT when I envision needing it.

The question about activation of the cellular capability of the Apple Watch would be a question that you have to direct to your carrier. I don't believe you have to activate if you purchase the watch, however you have to activate with your carrier to use. I doubt you will be able to turn it on and off at your discretion.
