3.5 mm headphone jack

Is the 3.5 mm headphone jack of a Macbook Pro 2016 with touchbar also a line in port? I tried using it as a line in using garageband to record my church's service from our soundboard and I couldn't get it to see my line-in.

While the 2016 MacBook Pro doesn't list the 3.5mm jack as an Audio In port, I have seen reports about the Internet of people still using it as such. I do not have access to a 2016 MacBook Pro, so I cannot confirm this. Did you go into the Settings->Sound->Input tab to see if it showed up for selection or did you just connect it and test it to see if you got input?

are you going direct out from the soundboard or to another device? is the connection a 3.5mm stereo input or mono? are you using something between the mac and the board as an adapter?

is the soundboard level on that channel have output levels or a bypass or a mute triggered?

What shows in >System Preferences/Sound/Input?
