Why does my wifi keep disconnecting on iOS10 on...

My wifi keeps turning off on it's own on my iPad since updating to iOS10.  It seems to do it both during while sitting idle and while actively using the iPad.  Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to stop it?

Below is a User Tip about Wi-Fi issues. Suggest starting from the top and working down.

1) Restart you device. If a normal restart does not help, hold down these buttons at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears: a) the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume down button (iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus) or b) the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button (all other models)

2) Reset Network Settings:  Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

3) Reboot Router/Modem:  Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website for a newer FW). Also try different bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and different bandwidths (20 MHz recommended for the 2.4 band). Channels 1, 6 or 11 are recommended for the 2.4 band.

4) Change to Google's DNS:  Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

5) Disable device prioritization on the router if this feature is available. Also disable any VPN apps and test Wi-Fi again.

6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

8) Backup and Restore the Device using iTunes. Try restoring as New first and testing it. If ok try restoring the backup (the backup could be corrupted).

9) Go to an Apple store for hardware evaluation. The Wi-Fi chip or the antenna could be defective.

It seems to be a bug, I've resorted to using Airplane Mode most of the time as that keeps it on.

Also, take a look at this Re: wifi dropping out after IOS10 update.

Try rebooting your router.  That seems to have fixed it for me.  It was suggested in another thread as it cleans out the tables.

I Have the same issue reset iPad and restored set up as new iPad re started all airport extremes seems to be a bug in ios10 I don't have this issue on any of my iMacs or android devices or iPhones. I have to turn on wifi all the time not sure why I hope Apple fix this in the next update.

My work around was to turn on airplane mode, wifi would connect, then turn off airplane mode and wifi would carry on without dropouts.

However you have to do this every time you boot up.

Now I have done a ITunes restore to new and then added my backup profile and (Touch wood) the issue seems to have gone at the moment.

I had originally updated to ios 10.0.2 by wifi.

Perhaps this is causing the software issue? try updating via itunes. Seems to at the moment work for me

I updated via iTunes, and I'm having this issue.

Also, I don't understand how the router or its settings are responsible for the iPad switching off the wifi antenna.

I have the same issue after applying upgrade to iOS 10.0.2 (14A456).

No matter the router, iPad keeps turning off Wi-Fi green button in the General settings, after several iPad reboots, in the airport, at home, or other places with WiFi connection.

I have had the iPad for almost 2 years, and this was never been happening before, only now in September 2016 after upgrading to iOS 10.0.2

Have you updated to the latest version of iOS 10?

This might solve your WiFi issues.

If not, see my list of user tips here.

My wifi keeps disconnecting after ios 10.02 update. Please get me a solution

See my link directly above your post/reply.

This WiFi disconnecting issue appeared after applying upgrade to iOS 10.0.2 (14A456).

When I applied the upgrade to iOS 10.1.1 (14B100), the issue disappeared.

DNS 8.8.8.8 literally works
