Locked audio files

Occasionally I find that, when attempting to alter a .wav file, it is ‘locked’. Specifically, if I wish to use any of the audio functions (silence, fade in/out, etc.) these are greyed-out in the functions menu. This pertains to audio files that I just recorded, not to files that are on a CD or that have been manually locked (as found in the Info display for that file).
