Advanced itunes searching

Hi

I have an iPod Classic 160GB with about 15,000 songs.

For some reason, possibly due exporting and reimporting of the entire library, many of my songs appear to not have meta data attached to them ( no song title, artist name, etc ).

The songs that are missing this data have song tittles/ are named things like: YAFS, GGEL, XDSO...( 3 - 4 Capital letters i think )

MY ISSUE

I would like to fix all songs that dont have data attached to them, so that they at least have correct song tittle and artist.

However manually running through all 15,000 songs ( to identify and fix the songs with incrrect titles ) in iTunes is quite time consuming and not very efficient.

WHAT I NEED

Ideally, what i need is to be able to perform an advanced search in iTunes that would select all songs having a song tittle of 0 - 4 Capital Letters, and put them inside a new playlist.

Is this something iTunes would let me do?

If not, is ther some other way i could achive the above?

A friend of mine mentioned this could be achieved through BASH (?) script, but i dont know how to get started with this.

( I have tried the iTunes Match service, but it diddnt appear to fix any/ many of the songs with incorrect tittles )

This is symptomatic of untagged files that have been recovered from a device. They are probably in .wav format since these don't support tagging. You can create a smart playlist that includes Music items where the artist or album is blank, then steadily play through these attempting to fill in the correct information. Try https://www.shazam.com/ to help with identification.

See ConvertFormat for a script that can help switch the .wav tracks to Apple Lossless for smaller files that support tags.
