Flashing led on MacBook pro battery

Hey guys,

Recently bought a second hand MacBook pro (2007) from a shop and seems to have some issues.

It was working yesterday, now today it won't switch on. The White led alights, the chimes go, then it doesn't go anywhere. The White led turns off and, although I can hear the mac is on, there's nothing on the screen.

The first led on the battery is flashing green.

Any ideas? I was told it was a new screen and new battery - the battery, initially, did still have the protected film on it.

Depending on exactly which MBP you have, it could be the NVIDIA issue. If it's a MBP which qualifies under the repair program, and if tests show the issue to be the GPU, repair is free.

If it's the earlier X1600 GPU, the issue could still be the GPU, but it is not covered under any repair program.

Any warranty from the place you bought it?

Also, yep, I tried resetting the smc, but that didn't help.

Any other thoughts guys?

The single flashing light on the battery indicates that it doesn't have enough of a charge to power the computer.

Ah right. Well, I've left it on charge and the first light it now lit and tr second is flashing, suggesting progress. However, I tried taking the battery out and plugging it in - if I understand correctly, they're meant to work that way - and the same, original issue occurs

I just this morning had the same issue on a macbook pro in my office. power was out all day on sunday so the macbooks finally "turned off."  All of them came on back on, except and older macbook pro 17". It had the single green flashing light on the battery. I removed the battery, and the power cord shows the sold green light but the machine still would not turn on.  So, I did a reset of the SMC (I think that is what is called.) I held down the Control-Option-Shift keys and the power button for 10-15 seconds.  Then I pressed the power button. At first it did not come on, but after about 5-8 minutes, it came on magically (think the battery reset finally allowed it to charge the battery enough), with 10% battery charge indicator.  Hope this helps!

My Macbook Pro did the same thing this morning- it was working OK, battery was getting low so I plugged it into the power adaptor.  Shortly after I plugged it in it powered down on its own and would not turn back on (grey Apple screen and loading bar, then turned back off).  The battery indicator was blinking (low battery) even after several hours of charging.  I switched to a new power adaptor and did as you said- CTRL/Option/Shift and power button for 15 seconds, then pressed the power button again and it immediately turned on with a 1% battery charge.  It is charging successfully now.  Thanks so much!!

I hv same problem but the LED keep blinking and power show green. But battery led when press only show one led blinking.. not able power on. Do smc reset still not work. Help needed.
