iMac (Late 2012) Turns Off By Itself

Hello! My iMac has been shutting off by itself randomly but I do not know why. Is it related to Firefox? Is it a Spotlight problem? Or could it be the power supply? It’s happened more than 10 times now in a span of 6 months or so. The last four have been today alone.

Problem Details:

• Two weeks ago:
  • VLC was in the background, and I was also running Parallels, using Microsoft Word and then it turned off.
  • I was on Firefox watching a video and then it turned off.

• I was on Firefox, batch downloading videos and then it turned off.
• Today:
  • On Parallels, I plugged a USB device in and it shut off.
  • I was on Firefox, batch downloading videos. I moved them from one folder to another in Finder and it turned off. This happened twice.
  • Maybe it was Little Snitch? So I uninstalled it and restarted. Once it booted to the Desktop, it turned off.

What I’ve tried to do:

• After it went off the first time I listened for activity and heard nothing. I tried to do a hard shutoff but it didn’t respond so I unplugged it. After about 30 minutes, I turned it back on.
• Tried different surge protectors.
• Cleaned out the heat vent, but not much dust came out so I’m not sure if it’s a heating problem?
• Made sure the RAM wasn’t loosened.
• Reset the PRAM and SMC.
• Verified and Repaired Permissions.
• Prevent Spotlight from searching USB devices and Parallels folders.
• Deleted files for more space.

I’m thinking about doing a clean install as the next step. Help!

iMac (27-inch, Late 2012)

OSX El Capitan Ver. 10.11.6

Processor: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB

Storage Capacity: 1 TB (currently more than 490 GBs available)
