itunes 12.7 losing airplay connectivity with ai...

Recently upgraded to iTunes 12.7 (12.7.0.166). Prior to the upgrade, Airplay connectivity with our Airport Express was reasonably stable (occasional dropouts, but nothing consistent or annoying; could leave the computer up over night and connectivity would "just work" in the morning, etc.). Since the upgrade, iTunes appears to lose some / all of its connectivity to the Airport Express consistently, within an hour or so of connecting and starting to play content.

The symptoms are somewhat inconsistent and confusing:

. Start iTunes, streaming to Airport Express, all is happy - "speakers" icon in iTunes is blue

. Shortly thereafter, the "speakers" icon in iTunes turns orange, but music is still playing . I can control iTunes using iOS Remote app. Clicking on the iTunes "speakers" icon shows the Airport Express as the selected output device. I infer that the orange icon means that something ain't right, though.

. If I stop playback and leave iTunes running, after several hours it loses its connection to the Airport Express completely, requiring me to quit/restart iTunes in order to re-connect to the Airport Express. The Remote App will allow me to start playback on iTunes, but nothing happens. On the Mac there is an "Airplay device unavailable" alert box.

This represents backward movement from 12.6.x.x.

Any insights?
