My iPod Touch 4G Wi

Every time my iPod touch 4G goes to sleep / standby mode, so does the Wi-Fi.

When it does I don't get any emails, or weather alerts, no notifications from any apps.

When my friends try to FaceTime me or message me, it tells them I am busy, or offline.

It never used to do this. The Wi-Fi was always on even when the iPod touch went to sleep / standby mode.

I never turn my iPod touch 4G off. At times I have to restart it, when apps start acting weird. That has always fixed that issue.

I believe this started this after the last iOS update? The iOS version is 6.1.6

Is there anyway I can force the Wi-Fi to stay on when the iPod touch goes to Sleep / Standby Mode?

Sorry, but none of that worked for me, most disabled the Wi-Fi altogether.

I had to reset the network to get the Wi-Fi back.

I called Apple support, and they would not talk to me about this. I found that very strange, they told me to ask the community.

Does it do this with every network you connect to?

Yes, I was at my Dad's just a few days ago, then my sisters and it auto connected to their Wi-Fi when I got there, but as soon as the iPod touch went in stand by so did the Wi-Fi.

I usually don't connect to public Wi-Fi, but I did a few weeks ago at a restaurant. After I connected it stay connected for about 5 minutes even after it went to sleep because I got a text message. after the message the Wi-Fi shut down.

I finally got to talk to Apple, They said they set the Wi-Fi to sleep 3 minutes after the device goes in standby to help save battery life, but apps and email have the rights to wake the Wi-Fi but most apps don't have the wake Wi-Fi enabled in their apps.

They said they did this on the iOS 6.1 upgrade across all 4G and earlier mobile devices.

I guess its their way of getting people to upgrade. After they told me this, they offered me 25% off of a new iPod touch, iPad mini, or iPhone with the exchange of my iPod touch 4G I said no thank you, i'll buy another brand, and I will.

I had to reset to factory default, now my iPod's WiFi is going to sleep when the iPod goes to sleep.
